David Webb Gypsy Monkey Brooch

Since 1948, David Webb has carried forward a rich tradition of design, craftsmanship and creativity as an ICONIC American jewelry house.

The Monkey is an ubiquitous animal in Webb’s Kingdom Collection, and in countless iterations. The inspiration may have been a piece of ancient sculpture or how-to drawing from a John Gnagy or Walter Foster book, but the success of the monkey brooch was all Webb. From his start in 1965 as a playful creature with cabochon ruby eyes and diamond bracelet, over the decades there have been several variations of his fur from yellow, blue or two-toned with green and white. He never lost his dainty bracelet, though he did at one time gain a pair of twisted gold hoop earrings.
